Asheville Spanish is owned and operated by Lucia Bertini and Christopher Sacco.
Lucia is a native Spanish speaker who is also fluent in English. She has over 10 years experience teaching Spanish and English to adults, adolescents and children of all ages, and providing professional translation into Spanish. On account of her varied experience, during the past several years, Lucia has helped develop curriculum at two schools where she worked. Lucia holds a Bachelors degree in Anthropology and a Masters in Education, and she is in the final year of second Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Chris' academic preparation includes a Bachelors degree with a double major in Spanish and Government, as well as a Graduate Certificate in the Design, Management and Evaluation of Sustainable Development Projects and Graduate Certificate in Community Preparedness and Disaster Management. He has over 10 years of nonprofit experience, including nearly 8 years experience developing and managing projects in South America, and he has translated thousands of pages of text from Spanish to English. Chris has also contributed extensively to three editions of the Rough Guide to Ecuador.
